Unlike the movie’s bundle with the Macross Trial Frontier, I think this is actually a full game. It came with the game Macross Last Frontier. Movie spec is 1080p 24fps video, LPCM 2.0 and DTS-HD MA 5.1, same as last time. The movie itself comes with a 48 page booklet and a box, same as last movie – Itsuwari no utahime (false songstress).

I think it’s worth the extra $40 for the special edition. If you buy the regular edition, you only get the bottom row stuff, which is the movie itself and a box. The collector’s edition has more external bonuses, all the first and second row items are bonuses for this Hybrid special edition. $140 for this box, it’s absolutely THE most expensive Blu-ray box I’ve ever spent, and it’s only for a single movie (oh, well, a game too).

So many theories, so little to base them on.So after waiting patiently for two weeks, I finally got my Macross movie 2 Collector’s Edition.Īt 10,000 Yen, approx. Are they going to make the same mistake as they did in the series by childifying Ranka and showing Sheryl as a force of nature? On the other hand, the top of the stylised bird human shows a small sprout, which might be about humantradi cultivating relations with Vajra while settling on Vajra-planet (I wonder what they'll call it? Eden and Earth are taken, so maybe Hive or something insect-like to honour the Vajra).Įither case, if the posters are simply translating the "tone" of the movie (like the first ones did), it seems like we're in for another "Ranka is being playfully moe rising songstress while Sheryl picks up her slack and drives the war songs to save everyone" thing.

I wonder, if they skip Sheryl's illness, will they make her, with Grace, betray Frontier, hence Sheryl hoists the Vajra flag while Alto's valkyrie burns in the background (or I'm just reading too much into one poster, the first movie's posters didn't exactly give away the plot either, on the other hand, this is supposed to be Ranka's movie, and we all know how effective it is to ship off one point of the triangle to Vajra-planet to focus on the other girl). The flag emblem looks like a stylised bird human (with the heart being the "pulse" that Vajra do when Ranka sings). It's hard to believe that Sheryl (War) and Ranka's (Magical Girl) posters are advertising the same movie.
